  • Is skiing on the deck like skiing on snow?
    • The carpet tends to be more challenging than skiing on snow, which partly explains why clients have such great success on the mountain after training at Virtual Snow®. The muscle memory and movement patterns are readily transferable to the snow. Think of the ski deck as your ‘training lab’ - there is a direct correlation with the amount of work you put in on the deck with the success you can expect on the mountain. A minimum of 5 sessions is recommended before a ski holiday.
  • Is it a good work-out?
    • It’s an excellent cardio work-out, perhaps a little more challenging for the first time snowboarder then skier! You will not need to go to the gym the days you schedule your training sessions. It’s also a great cross- trainer activity for any athlete.
  • May I bring my own skis and boots?
    • Ski and snowboard boots - YES, in fact we encourage it. Boards and skis - No. We apply a special surface to the bottom of our skis so they slide easily on the carpet. Additional bonus - the deck is a GREAT place to break in new boots before you get to the mountain.
  • I’m a good skier, how can it help me?
    • Training on the deck will help any beginner and/or intermediate skier. It will help you develop a bullet proof stance which is neutral/forward in your boots. Training on the deck also helps eliminate any upper body lateral rotation with the use of the bar. Additionally, after training on the deck, you will be able to hit the slopes at full speed vs. re-establishing your ski legs and just getting the hang of it before the end of your precious ski holiday. Lastly, you’ll gain a better understanding of how our modern day skis work and what they are capable of with less effort.
  • Isn’t the bar in front of you a crutch?
    • There isn’t any forward momentum on the deck - the best way to describe how stabilizing forward momentum is to describe riding a bike...the faster you go the more stabile you become. Try riding a bike without hands going really slow - it’s virtually impossible. Forward momentum is FAR MORE STABILIZING than the bar can ever be - trust us on that.
